Yesterday afternoon, the physician team recommended that Bethany's
transplant status be changed from 1B to 1A, so she can get a new heart as
soon as possible. They feel like this is the best course of action, given she has
shown no improvement whatsoever over the past several weeks. Tuesday
evening, she felt bad-worse than she has felt so far. She was having chest
pain, felt like her heart was grinding, and was markedly weaker.
Wednesday morning, she did not feel well enough to shower. So, they have placed the
Swanz-Gantz catheter back in her heart, and are hoping there will be a new
heart for Bethany. As much as we hoped and prayed that her heart would
heal, God must have a different plan! Needless to say, we were stunned, yet
again. This up and down roller coaster ride is emotionally and physically
exhausting. Please keep Bethany, Zac and baby Finn in your prayers, as I
KNOW you are. Again, please communicate with her via email or Facebook.
She has to make an effort to sound upbeat on the phone, and it wears on her.
Dr. Mandras has asked me to be the bad guy, and request that phone calls be
all but banned. She is snoozing right now, so we are in the waiting room. Zac
and Finn are in the recliner next to her.
Kim, Cheryl, Finn and I came back to New Orleans last night. Bethany got to
hold her sweet Finn, and feed him:-) Zac held him for awhile, too. I know
that helps them both.
This update is brief; I just can't think of much else to say.
God Bless each and everyone you for all the prayers, warm thoughts and love
you have showered on our families!
Beth
